Orthodontics As An Adult: Where To Start?
No matter how unhappy you are with your smile, the thought of undertaking orthodontic treatment as an adult can be intimidating for lots of people. Where do you even begin? And are you really going to have to walk around with braces aged 40? Don’t worry, the team here at the Dental Studio have put together all the info you need on getting braces as an adult and trust me there’s some pretty amazing options on the market!
Investing In Your Smile
When you get braces you’re doing far more for yourself than just getting braces – if that makes sense? You’re investing in yourself and, for some reason, we seem to have decided that when we reach adulthood we don’t need to invest in changing teeth, even if it makes us happy. It is assumed that braces are for kids, not for adults. Well we think this is totally wrong, and that any one of our patients no matter their age should feel empowered to address their smile if they want to.
Plenty Of Options
If you’re considering orthodontics in Colchester then we would recommend coming to see us at the practice to start off on getting a better idea of exactly what your needs are. We just need to see you, your smile and how healthy your teeth are. From here we can then assess the right types of braces for you. For now, here’s a few options on the market.
Invisalign
So the most popular type of orthodontics in Colchester is Invisalign. Most people want a brace that’s adaptable to their lifestyle, both practicality and aesthetically, and Invisalign certainly delivers on both these points.
They’re made from clear plastic and the design is such that they sit super snug over your teeth, basically giving an invisible appearance. They’re also totally removable which means you can take them out for eating and cleaning – reducing the chances of damage or the development of gum disease. Win. Win.
Fixed Wired Braces
There’s two types of fixed braces that are mainly used today. You’ve got train tracks which are the braces you’ve most likely come across before, and then they’re lingual braces which look and work like train tracks but are fitted to the inside of the teeth rather than the out. Lots of patients love the idea of these because they become TOTALLY invisible, and no one notices you wearing them. They do come with a slightly more hefty price tag, but we do have finance options available.
The good thing about wired braces is that they are very good for fixing more complex orthodontic issues, as some people might have dental issues that go beyond that of Invisialign. They’re also great for people who think they might be tempted to take thor braces out a little too often if they were using something that’s removable.
