While straightening teeth is easiest when you are young and your teeth and bones are still growing, it has become very common for adults to seek out orthodontic treatments as well, because more people are now presented with the opportunity to take care of their appearance in an image-driven society. At The Dental Studio, we have a wide range of options for orthodontics in Colchester and after a thorough consultation and assessment of your smile we can come up with the best option to straighten your teeth in a way that best fits your lifestyle. Which means you don’t have to face 3 years of metal braces just to get straight teeth.
Teeth straightening options
This treatment has become one of the most popular and widely used orthodontic treatments the world over, as it works reasonably quickly, very effectively, and is completely invisible when worn. Another added bonus of these orthodontics in Colchester is that the assessment of your teeth is done by a state-of-the-art computer program. This not only allows us to take a highly accurate scan of your teeth and jaw, but uses that information to create a digital 3D model of your mouth that is able to simulate how your teeth will shift over time. This simulation is used to make custom clear aligners for your teeth, each aligner needs to be changed every 1-2 weeks and can easily be done so in the comfort of your own home. Appliances are completely removable for cleaning and eating as well as any sporting activities you may partake in, and depending on the severity of your problems treatment can last anywhere from 4-9 months.
This is also a removable appliance, but it works differently to the Invisalign treatment and is much faster, although it focuses mainly on the front 6 top and bottom teeth. This technology is easily clipped onto the teeth and pushes and pulls them in the right direction until they are properly aligned. Although there may be some wiring visible when you wear the appliance it is still rather discreet when compared to traditional braces and with treatment lasting up to about 16 weeks you couldn’t ask for anything to work faster.
Also known as lingual or cosmetic braces, this treatment works in the same way as traditional braces, but instead of having brackets fixed to the front of your teeth, these are fitted on the back of your teeth, making for a very discreet treatment process which lasts only about 8 weeks in some cases.
Also known as clear braces, these orthodontics in Colchester live up to their name in being able to fix your teeth in 6 months. They work similarly to traditional braces in that the brackets are fitted onto the front of the teeth, but they are not made of metal, rather a tooth-coloured or clear plastic which is far less noticeable than traditional braces. A wire is used to create tension in order to pull the teeth quickly into position.
