Everyone wants to look nice and having discoloured teeth is not an attractive feature. That’s why at The Dental Studio Colchester, we’re finding that tooth whitening or bleaching is increasingly popular with our patients. All our dentists, dental therapists and dental hygienists are fully trained to provide our tooth whitening service.
We use three alternative methods to whiten teeth and following your initial examination, the dentist will establish which one is most suitable for you. All methods start with impressions of your teeth being taken to enable the construction of ‘trays’ (similar in look and feel to mouth-guards but considerably thinner).
The ‘home’ method involves you carrying out the bleaching yourself by placing the bleach in your ‘trays’ and wearing them overnight for two weeks. If this method is elected, we will of course provide you with full instructions on how to do this.
The ‘in-house’ method is fully completed at The Dental Studio and involves one appointment in which the dentist loads the bleach into the’ tray‘ which is then placed over your teeth for 20 minutes. A high intensity blue light is shone over the teeth and ‘tray’ during this time to help activate the bleaching agent. Once the time has elapsed, the ‘tray’ is removed and fresh bleach added before repeating the procedure for a further 20 minute period.
The third method combines the two above and is the most effective way to whiten teeth. This involves an initial whitening appointment at The Dental Studio, followed by two weeks of home whitening to supplement the procedure and provide the best possible results.
