Cathryn Adams – GDC 5239
I qualified as a Dental Hygienist in September 1997 from the prestigious Eastman Dental Hospital. I have a wealth of experience from my clinical role in private practice and also my teaching role as a clinical educator for the University of Essex, in the training of Dental Hygienists for their foundation degree in oral health sciences. I welcomed an invite to Berlin at the institute for ultrasonics to become an accredited trainer for Dentsply and the use of Cavitron.
I have a immense passion for Dental Hygiene and the whole health concept believing that the mouth is the mirror of the body. I firmly believe that changing attitudes and awareness of bleeding gums/periodontal health and whole mouth care could have a dramatic effect on your whole health. This is backed up with much research going into Periodontal Disease and the systemic links with Diabetes, Heart Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Premature and low birth weight babies and Alzheimer’s Disease.
I have enjoyed my career in Dentistry for the last 27 years both as a Fully Qualified Dental Nurse and Oral Health Educator moving onto being a Dental Hygienist.
After my qualification I have worked in a variety of NHS and Private Practices. I also worked as a tutor Hygienist at the Eastman Dental Hospital until my first child was born.
I’m always looking for new challenges and I’m as passionate today about Dental Hygiene as I was 20 years ago.
