A great way to ensuring that they are brushing for the required length of time is to introduce a fun timer using their favourite song, an egg timer or an electric toothbrush with a built in timer. This way they get a clear idea of how long they need to be brushing their teeth for. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A brilliant free app \u2013 Brush DJ &#8211; is also available to download from most app stores. It plays two minutes of music from your existing playlists and is a great way to get children to brush for the full recommended two minutes. For more information, visit www.brushdj.com<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><b>Not wanting to brush their teeth<\/b><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Making brushing fun is the best way to ensure you build an effective oral hygiene routine from an early age. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You could allow them to pick their own toothbrush with a favourite cartoon character on it. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make a special toothbrush holder with stickers and coloured paper<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brush along to a favourite song<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fill in a brushing reward chart every day leading to a reward at the end of the month<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use one of the many toothbrushing apps to help make brushing more interesting<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Top tips for children\u2019s teeth brushing<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6676\" src=\"https:\/\/the-dental-studio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ima2.jpg\" alt=\"ima2\" width=\"340\" height=\"227\" srcset=\"https:\/\/the-dental-studio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ima2.jpg 340w, https:\/\/the-dental-studio.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/ima2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 340px) 100vw, 340px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use a toothbrush recommended by your <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/the-dental-studio.com\/dental-team\"><b>dental team<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and get your children to choose their favourite colours or characters <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use a suitable fluoride strength toothpaste for their age group:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under three years old \u2013 1000ppm <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over three years old \u2013 1350-1500ppm <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Find a toothpaste that they like the flavour of \u2013 there are many on the market <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children easily swallow toothpaste so it\u2019s best to use a smear of toothpaste for babies and children up to three years of age, and a pea-sized blob for children aged three to six<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brush for two minutes, twice a day. This should be last thing at night and on one other occasion during the day \u2013 usually in the morning. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Divide brushing into four sections in the mouth and brush each quadrant for 30 seconds \u2013 upper left, upper right, lower right, lower left. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brush in a circular motion and brush each surface of each tooth \u2013 tops and sides. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spit the toothpaste out after brushing but don\u2019t rinse.
